Today PF Staff announced that they're aiming to re-open the site by the end of March.

Here's an excerpt from the full announcement:
We are taking this time to do a thorough evaluation of the site and make improvements to the site’s security and permission checks from the top down. In spite of only a handful of issues being brought to our attention during our public launch last month, our developers want to conduct a thorough assessment of the entire site and develop a more in-depth suite of testing procedures. While it would not take long for our developers to fix the current known issues themselves, using the downtime to do systematic improvements will strengthen our platform in the long term and help prevent such issues from occurring again.

Well that's good news. I'd rather they say that they expect it to be the end of March than a generic "soon" or "the next few weeks" because that would suggest they really don't know. And given that everyone wants to hear that it's soon, saying that it's the end of March makes it more likely that it will be around then, even if it's early April.

Given the launch problems, I think that it's good they're really hardening their code. The unruly hacker crowd is going to be back in force as soon a it reopens, trying to break everything again, and it's really going to have to be much more sophisticated to withstand that. If this isn't to be a fatal cascade, the work is going to have to be done. I'm really glad that they see that.

Well

I'm glad they're being more transparent but I still have doubts it'll be up and running this quickly. How did they find someone to work for such low rates to help patch up security this fast? I'm still a bit skeptical.
